WAPA and Creu Cymru to strengthen working relationship

Chris Ryde | September 3, 2009 | 0 Comments

WAPA and the agency which co-ordinates touring and represents the venues, Creu Cymru, are meeting again this autumn to build on the useful work begun at the joint conference held late last year. It is hoped another, similar, event will be held this December. Both organisations are waiting on the publication of the Audiences Wales research commissioned by the Arts Council into drama audiences. It is anticipated that there will be implications in the recommendations of that report for both groups and the proposed event will use these as a springboard for further joint initiatives.

WAPA has written to support the Assembly Government’s initiative through subordinate legislation and new powers to introduce mandatory support for arts and culture provision by local authorities. In general however this is a welcome move which should lead to better and more well supported local authority support.

WAPA responds to the Investment Review process

WAPA has submitted a collective response to the timetable suggested by ACW for their Investment Review. WAPA members are concerned that there will be a very small window between the announcement of the details of what is needed and the proposed deadline of November 2nd, so we have asked for two clear months to prepare submissions. We are also concerned about the subsequent evaluation process in the light of what happened in England and we want transparent criteria in place. This also applies to any appeals process which may follow.
